The Test of Infant Motor Performance (TIMP) is a test of functional motor behavior in infants from 34 weeks post-menstrual age through 4 months post-term for use by PTs in NICUs and early intervention. The TIMP assesses the postural and selective control of movement needed for functional motor performance in early infancy. Through research, the test has been shown to diagnose delay in infants with varying medical conditions, predict preschool-age motor performance, reflect demands for movement placed on infants by caregivers in daily life interactions, and record outcomes of PT and OT provided to high-risk infants.
